URBAN CONTEMPORARY I have walked these neighborhoods where the streets have no name- Welcome to the Jungle blaring from SUV's... I was a journalist, yes – back in the day maybe we all were naive, but not today: the Emperor's naked. I have strolled these ghettos before the gentricide *came, New Amsterdam, or Calcutta? Nam vets asleep in the gutter... your pre-planned pandemic made squalor systemic- nothing much has changed, save for the New York Stock Exchange... bank failures come in succession, will there be a Great Depression? in the Summer, in the City... a digital currency? an end to autonomy? Could be (We'll see). these are strange days, wouldn't you say? these are strange days, welcome to The Endgame Play. © 2023 ransomsalmonsongs, Ltd. STRANGELOVE STRIKES AGAIN! there you go again, hatching your evil schemes what are we supposed to do? sit back and watch? there you go again, feigning noblesse oblige- while the world is under siege you wet your pants, it's your wet dream... when will you learn? play with fire, and you'll soon get burned when will you see, the error of your autocracy? how many times must we see history repeat? please, set me free from the chains of your villainy there you go again, plotting to overthrow- intelligentsia always gets a pass... we will NOT be pawns on your global chessboard! you mental degenerate! please, go away! just go away! must I explain? dumpster fires cannot be contained- when will you see how you've caused pain and misery? why don't you care? in the end, you think you'll be spared? don't make me laugh, nihilists write their epitaphs, always. time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking – into the future.... “don't let him know it's the end of the world......” © 2023 ransomsalmonsongs, Ltd. BINKY'S DILEMMA don't pity me I know what is real- don't pity me because I wont follow... don't pity me you beautiful bastard boy, why cant you see the forest for the trees? don't patronise, I see through your disguise- don't patronise, I know the truth from lies- you should realise there's wool over your eyes, don't compromise it's time that you got wise whys•whys•whys•whys don't pity me with your novena prayers- come next to me whenever you break the spell, it's lunacy: the evil that men do, open your eyes- it's time you should arise, apprise, despise genocides...... carry on, my wayward son. © 2023 ransomsalmomsongs, Ltd. A HYMN TO PEACEFUL PROTEST it's Life During Wartime, I believe Darnell, not CNN when the tear gas was thrown in the streets, in the Capitol when the Gestapo came to the streets, to the Capitol mister Policeman, you can strap on your fatigues, your riot gear your rubber bullets - just keep your fucking hands where I can see 'em.... text JUSTICE to 63135 no self-apologetic jive... get the action going, keep the cameras rolling gut-check your demeanor, I will speak over the ashes- of the dark and lowly classes [bridge/middle 8] intimidation, gun confiscation vilification, incarceration this is how it all begins this is how it all begins X2 mister Policeman, don't you stupefy, crucify- you don't protect or serve, [did I touch a nerve?] heroes, villains, martyrs & civilians (2X) Category 5 in New Orleans, history is never what it seems- and must we go to such extremes? it isn't always black and white, “out of mind”'s not out of sight and for what it's worth, I'd love to change the world. © 2023 ransomsalmonsongs, Ltd. CONFLICT & RESOLUTION is it getting better, or is everything the same? is it getting better? it's getting better all the time... in my reverie: with bell, book & candle, winding my way through the chaos and scandal- is our Democracy just another moveable feast? have we landed inside the belly of the beast? when does it cease? Lord, grant me peace... and the things I've seen that still leave me grieving, so sad- watching the consensus, not conceiving – they've been had I'd never try persuading or dissuading your stance, but can't you see the stimulus predicts the circumstance? and every conflict should have some resolution to save the day- every conflict should have resolution at the end of the day... I wont back down, and I'll never surrender! I wont back down, and I aint no pretender... I wont acquiesce to the machinations of folks, spare me Springsteen what we need now's another Phil Ochs! no joke! © 2023 ransomsalmonsongs, Ltd. ASCAP words + music by Ransom Salmon
